“Undress to your comfort.”

A sentence that sounds reassuring and answers nothing. Here is what it actually means, treatment by treatment, so the decision is made before you are standing alone in a room with a robe and a closed door.

Solstice / Blog / What to wear, what to leave on

The short version

Take off what you want to. Most people leave underwear on. The draping works either way, you are covered from the moment you are on the table to the moment you are off it, and no practitioner has ever once thought about it afterwards.

The longer answer is that it depends on the treatment, and nobody tells you that either.

Treatment by treatment.

01
Facials, LED, dermaplaning

Stay dressed from the waist down, top off, robe on, and you lie on top of the bedding rather than under it. A wrap goes over your hair. Wear something that will not mind a little product at the collar.

Robe

02
Deep tissue, structural work

Underwear on is the common choice and changes nothing about the work except at the hip, where the practitioner will work over the sheet instead. Fully undressed is also normal. Neither is remarkable.

03
Signature Body Ritual

Disposable underwear is offered and most people take it, because there is a scrub and an oil cocoon involved and salt does not come out of good cotton. Bring nothing; it is on the bench in the suite.

04
Sauna Ritual

Swimwear or the robe. The infrared room and the plunge are private and single‑occupancy, so it is genuinely your preference. Most people use the robe and leave it on the hook by the door.

Aromatic Hand & Foot

Stay completely dressed. Roll a sleeve and a trouser leg and that is the whole requirement. This is why it is the treatment most often bought for someone who would find the rest of the menu daunting.

Draping, plainly

You get on the table under a sheet and a blanket while the practitioner is out of the room. From then on, only the part being worked is uncovered, and it is covered again before anything moves on. Your back is uncovered for back work. One leg at a time, tucked. Nothing below the hip line is ever uncovered, at all, in any treatment.

This is not a courtesy that varies by practitioner or by mood. It is the standard, it is what Arizona licensing requires, and it is not something you should ever have to ask about.

The things people worry about

Body hair. Nobody notices and nobody cares. Practitioners work on forty bodies a week.

Not having showered since the gym. There is a shower here and you are welcome to use it, and if you do not, it genuinely does not register.

Falling asleep. Extremely common and mildly flattering. If you snore, nobody will mention it.

Where to put your clothes. A locker with a real key, in the changing room, not in the suite. Take the key in with you if you would rather; there is a dish for it by the table.

What to leave at home

Heavy jewellery and the good watch, not because anything goes missing but because taking them off and putting them back on is four minutes you would rather spend in the courtyard. And any expectation that you need to have done something to prepare. You do not. Read your first visit and that is the whole preparation.
