The morning runs
backward.

From your photographer's first look, back through touch-ups, back through the bride, back through the party. Everything else on this page falls out of that one time.

First things first

When to book, honestly.

Nashville has two wedding seasons and both are short: April into early June, then mid-September into early November. Inside those windows the Saturdays go first, and October Saturdays go a long way ahead of everything else. Outside them there's far more room than people expect.

Three weeks

We take one wedding a day. Not a morning and an evening, not two parties back to back. It is the only way the last person in the chair gets the same morning as the first one.

Six to eight weeks out

The trial is not optional.

Ninety minutes, in the studio, six to eight weeks out. Book it for the same time of day as the wedding if you can. Hair that holds beautifully at nine can be a different animal by four.

What we're really doing is removing decisions from the morning. You leave with a finished look, photographed from four angles and written down with the pins and products we used. On the day we rebuild something known rather than invent something new in front of an audience.

Bring

  • Your veil, or the comb, clip or pin you're planning to wear. Where it sits changes the whole shape.
  • A photo of the neckline. Not the whole dress, just the neckline. Strapless and high-neck want opposite things.
  • Two or three styles you like, and one you don't. The second is more useful than the first.
  • Hair washed the day before, not that morning. Freshly clean hair does not hold a pin.

Where the morning happens

Our room, or yours.

In the studio

Our light, our mirrors, our backbar, and the chair by the window everybody fights over. No travel fee, parking validated. Best for parties of four or fewer.

Everybody arrives with hair dry. Wet hair adds twenty minutes a head and the morning doesn't have it.

On location

Hotel suite, Airbnb, the venue's bridal room. What we need is small and non-negotiable: a table beside a window, two outlets within reach, and a hard chair. Not a bed, not a sofa, not a bar stool.

Travel is quoted with your date, and on-location mornings carry a four-service minimum. Send us the venue and we'll price it first.

The running order

Built backward from the first look.

Ask your photographer for the first-look time before you ask us for anything; everything else is arithmetic from there. These are real durations, not optimistic ones.

One artist runs about a head an hour once the bride's longer slot is carved out. A party of six is a comfortable five-hour morning; a party of nine is not. Past six services we bring a second artist, not to go faster but because hour eight of a nine-hour morning is where the work starts to slip.

Two rules we don't bend. The bride goes second-to-last: the final slot belongs to whoever needs a pin put back once they're in the dress. And nobody is still in a chair when the car arrives.

Pricing

What a morning costs.

A written quote goes out with your date once we know the headcount, the venue and the call time. Nothing on this page turns into a surprise on the morning.

The paperwork

Holding the date.

A signed agreement and a $150 retainer hold the date, and the retainer comes off the balance rather than sitting on top of it. Until both exist the morning is genuinely still available to somebody else. We say so plainly because people have found it out the hard way.

Headcount locks thirty days out. You can add after that if the morning has room; you can't subtract, because by then we've turned down a booking or committed a second artist.

In short

$150 retainer holds the date and comes off the balance.

Thirty days out, the headcount locks. Additions yes, removals no.

Balance is due the week of, one payment, not eight.

If the date moves, the retainer moves with it once, subject to what's open.

Questions

Good to know.

Do you do makeup as well?

No. We're a hair studio and we've decided to stay one. A stylist doing makeup badly on the biggest morning of your year helps nobody. We work regularly alongside two makeup artists in town, they're used to sharing a running order with us, and we'll hand you their names when you book.

What if I want to be blonder for the wedding?

Start six months out, not six weeks. A real change of level is two or three appointments a month or more apart, and the last one wants to land two to three weeks before the date so the tone has settled. Send photos through the color consultation and put the wedding date in the form. We'll build the color calendar backward the same way we build the morning.

How early can you start, and is this only for weddings?

Six in the studio, earlier on location if the venue lets us in. Early is normal in this job. Just build the timeline honestly: a 6 a.m. start for a 2 p.m. first look means somebody sits around finished for four hours, and hair does not improve while it waits.

And no, not only weddings. Anything photographed that only happens once: engagement shoots, a gala, a milestone birthday, a music video. Same styling, same pricing, no trial unless you want one.

— Tell us the date

Your wedding morning, on schedule.

Send the date, the venue and roughly how many heads. We'll come back with a timeline and a number, usually the same day.
