The subway

Carroll Street on the F and G is half a block north. Come out of the Smith Street exit, walk east to Court, turn right, and we are eight storefronts down on the right-hand side. Four minutes at a normal walk.

From Manhattan the F is the whole journey. From most of Brooklyn the G is faster than it looks on the map.

Driving, honestly

Metered parking on Court Street itself, two-hour maximum, and it fills by ten on a Saturday. Sackett and Union one block either side are free and are usually open on a weekday. Do not sit in the car waiting for a Court Street spot on a Saturday morning; you will still be there when we close.

The door

Hand-painted sign, gold on black, and the same lettering since 1928. There is a barber pole that has been broken since 2011 and is still bolted to the wall.

The door is open when we are. Push it, and the bell will do the rest.
