Why there is no tier above this
Every few years somebody suggests a premium service. A better lather, a longer shave, a chair by the window at a higher rate. We have never done it, for a reason that is easy to say and hard to argue with: it would mean the ordinary version is the one we are not trying as hard at.
So there is one lather, one razor, one standard of neck shave, and the man paying twenty-two dollars for his son’s first haircut gets the same attention as the man paying eighty for the works.
What is included without being on the menu
The neck shave, on every cut. Hot towel at the finish, on every cut. A dry brush-down and a talc line so you do not leave with hair down your collar. None of those are extras and none of them will appear on the ticket.
Coffee if there is a pot on, which there usually is. The paper. And the conversation, which several people over the years have told us is the actual product.
What we do not do
Colour. Perms. Anything chemical. Appointments, which is its own whole page. Products you did not ask about, and there is nothing on the counter to sell you.
