Aftercare cards usually list twenty things, which guarantees nobody does any of them. Four things actually shorten a set. Do those and a classic set holds its shape for three weeks.
Foaming lash cleanser and a soft brush, every night, on the lash line rather than the tips. Thirty seconds.
Not cleansing is the single most common cause of a set that only lasts ten days. Oil, makeup and skin cells build up at the base and the bond gives way. It also causes the itching people mistake for an adhesive allergy.
Sleeping face-down is second by a distance, and it is why one eye is almost always worse than the other. A silk pillowcase helps at the margin; sleeping on your back helps enormously.
Cyanoacrylate dissolves in oil. Oil cleansers, oil-based removers, heavy eye creams migrating up overnight, and most makeup wipes. Check the ingredient list on anything that goes near the eye.
On classic, water-based on the tips only. On volume or mega, none: mascara closes the fans and a closed fan cannot be reopened. If you feel you need mascara on a set, the set is wrong.
Cyanoacrylate cures fully in about a day. Keep water, steam and heat off them for that period and you have done the whole of the special-treatment phase. After that, live normally.
Showering is fine and in fact rinsing them is good. Swimming is fine, chlorine included. The gym is fine; sweat is not oil. Saunas are fine after the first day. Crying is fine. None of these are what shortens a set, and the aftercare cards that list them are padding a list to look thorough.
Redness along the waterline, swelling of the lid, or itching that cleansing does not solve within a day. Come in. It is almost never an adhesive allergy (real ones are rare and turn up within hours, not on day four) and almost always either a build-up or a lash taped against the eye. Either way we look at it for free, same week.
Losing a few lashes a day is normal: you shed two to five naturally, and each one takes its extension with it. Losing a clump in one go is not, and it usually means an extension was bonded to two lashes.
Cleanse the lash line nightly with a foaming, oil-free lash cleanser, avoid sleeping face-down, keep oil-based products away, and skip mascara. Everything else people worry about does not shorten a set.

Any foaming lash cleanser without oil. Your artist will name two, both under ten dollars, and neither of them is sold here. We do not have a retail shelf on purpose.
Please do not. You will take natural lashes with them, and the regrowth cycle is about three months. Removal here is $40, free before any new set, and takes half an hour.
Yes, and a peptide serum is genuinely useful if your natural lashes are fine. Apply it to the lash line with the applicator, not over the extensions, and keep prostaglandin serums to a doctor’s advice: they change lash cycle length and can darken the eyelid.
Only if you sleep face-down and cannot stop. A contoured mask that does not touch the lashes helps; a flat one presses them flatter than the pillow would.
