Please do not pull them off.

Every lash artist has seen the result and it is always the same: a lash line that looks fine in a mirror and is missing a third of its natural lashes, discovered six weeks later when nothing has grown back yet.

Wisp / Removals & breaks
01
Professional removal

A gel or cream remover applied on a patch, left to work for ten minutes, and the extensions slide off. Twenty minutes total, no pulling at any point, and no natural lashes come with them.

Free with a new set

If you are being removed and re-set the same day, there is no charge for the removal. Nobody should pay to take off a set they are replacing.

Partial removal

Occasionally the right answer: a few extensions on lashes that have twisted, rather than the whole line. Ten minutes and no charge on our own work.

Coming off another studio’s set

Send a photograph. If the isolation is poor, removal is the right first step and we will say so, even though it is a longer and more expensive day than a fill.

Do not at home

No oil soak, no picking, no coconut oil overnight, and absolutely no tweezers. Oil weakens the bond unevenly, which means the ones that come off take a natural lash with them and the rest stay.

Do lashes need a break?

If the sets were applied with proper isolation and at a weight your natural lashes carry, no. Extensions do not stop lashes growing and the cycle continues underneath exactly as it did before. Somebody wearing extensions continuously for five years with good work has the same lash line they started with.

If something has gone wrong, yes, and the honest length of it is two months rather than two weeks. A natural lash lives six to eight weeks, so anything shorter than that is not a break, it is a gap.

How to tell which you are in

You do not need a break if your sets last two to three weeks, nothing hurts, and your bare lashes look the same as they did a year ago.

You do need one if you have had pain or pulling, if there are visible sparse patches, or if your bare lashes are noticeably shorter and finer than you remember. All three of those are signs of poor isolation or excessive weight, and both of those are studio problems rather than extension problems.

What to do during one

A lash serum, if you want one. Peptide-based rather than prostaglandin: the prescription kind works better and can darken the iris permanently in some people, which is a real trade rather than a scare story.

A clean lash line and cuticle oil on the lid at night. And genuinely nothing else; there is no product that speeds a growth cycle up.

Asked often.

How do you remove lash extensions safely?

A gel or cream remover on a patch, ten minutes to work, and they slide off. Twenty minutes and forty dollars, or free if you are being re-set the same day. No pulling at any point.

Can I remove lash extensions at home with oil?

Please do not. Oil weakens the bonds unevenly, so the ones that release take a natural lash with them and the rest stay put. It is the most common cause of the damage people blame on extensions.

Do lash extensions need a break?

Not if the work was done properly: extensions do not stop lashes growing. If you have had pain, sparse patches, or noticeably finer bare lashes, then yes, and a real break is two months rather than two weeks.

Do lash growth serums work?

Peptide serums modestly, over months. Prostaglandin serums work better and can permanently darken the iris in some people, which is a genuine trade worth knowing about before you start.

Twenty minutes, forty dollars.

Free if we are setting you the same day. Text and we will find a slot this week.
