The door

East side of Twelfth between Union and Spring. Grey, plain, no signage, with a buzzer panel to the right and the number in small vinyl at eye height. Push it during opening hours; it is unlocked.

Stairs immediately on the left, one flight, and the studio door is at the top. There is a sofa on the landing and a dog on the sofa.

Parking

Paid street parking on Twelfth, two-hour maximum, which is not enough for a four-hour session. The lot on Union a block north takes all-day and is the right answer for anything booked; the residential blocks east of Twelfth are permit-zoned and are enforced properly.

If you are in for a day session, use the lot. People try the street every week and it costs them a break in the middle of the day.

Transit

Capitol Hill Link station is a nine-minute walk north. The 2, 10 and 12 all stop within two blocks. There is a bike rack in the alley behind the building and one on the street outside.

If you are late

Ring (206) 555-0114. Fifteen minutes on a four-hour block is fine. Past thirty, on a day booked as a full day, the honest answer is that we finish what fits and the rest becomes another session, because the artist after you booked a start time as well.

Asked often.

Where is North / Black?

1212 12th Avenue, second floor, on the east side between Union and Spring on Capitol Hill. The street door is plain grey with no signage and the stairs are immediately inside on the left.

What are your hours?

Tuesday to Saturday, noon to nine. Closed Sunday and Monday. The walk-in chair runs Saturdays only, noon to five.

Where should I park for a long session?

The lot on Union a block north, which takes all-day. Street parking on Twelfth is two-hour maximum, which is not enough for a four-hour block, and the residential blocks east are permit-zoned and enforced.

Can I come in and look at portfolios?

Yes, during opening hours. Push the door, come up, and if nobody is mid-session somebody will show you the books. If everyone is working we will say so, which is the same courtesy we extend to whoever is in the chair.

Push the grey door.

Stairs on the left, one flight. There is a sofa on the landing and Tab is on it.
