No. 3 — The chair

Three generations.
Same chair. Same cut.

Salvatore Vitale opened this shop in nineteen twenty‑eight with two chairs and a hand‑painted sign that's still over the door. His son took the second chair after the war. His grandson — me — took the first chair in 1994.

The chairs are the same Koken hydraulics. The mirror is the same. The bell on the door is the same one Sal hung the day he opened. A few things have changed: the prices, mostly.

We don't take appointments because we never have. Walk in. Read the paper. Talk to the man next to you. We'll get to you.

What the regulars say.

★★★★★
The same haircut my grandfather got, same shop, same family. They don't rush you, they don't upsell you, and the talk is worth the walk.

I asked for the cut my father always got. They knew it before I said the name. That's the trick.

Hot towel shave that actually relaxes you. The straight razor is a thing you should feel at least once. I drive in from Queens.
